The Kajli Teej festival is organized in the Hindu
month of Bhadra and unlike Teej festival is celebrated only in the city
of Bundi. The celebration of kajli teej festival is scheduled for two
days; nonetheless the festivities continue till Janmashthami (the
occasion of birth of Lord Krishna). The Kajli Teej festival is an
occasion to replenish the ties of chastity in marriage hence it holds
immense significance for married couples. Kajli teej is a time when
women dress up in bright colorful saris and traditional Rajasthani
dresses. There hands and feet are colored with henna and they enjoy ride
on swings are hung on the branches of trees all around the city.
The festival commences with the procession carrying an image of Teej
Mata in a decorated palanquin around the city passing through the main
bazaars which starts from Naval Sagar and concludes at Azad Park. The
procession passes through the city with much fanfare with folk artists
bringing music and dance to the festival; decorated elephants, horses
and camels are also a part of the procession. Innumerable cultural
performances take place in the evening and the ones not to be missed are
from the Hadoti artists. All in all the Kajli Teej Festival though is a
religious festival but it gives a visitor a flavor of the Bundi culture.
